Over the past few years, elopements have become incredibly popular among adventurers and couples prioritizing their relationship. As a Denver elopement photographer, I’ve met many incredible couples and celebrated their love while they experienced the beauties of Denver for the first time. If you’re recently engaged and considering an elopement but are still trying to decide, let me help! Throughout the blog, I’ll detail the top reasons my couples have eloped and hopefully help you decide if you should elope in 2025!

Less Stress
One of the biggest reasons couples choose to elope, especially in Colorado, is because they want less stress surrounding their day. Colorado’s scenery and slower pace found in the mountains is a huge draw to the people who just want to be in the moment and celebrate with their partner. Not only can they experience somewhere new for the first time, but because it’s an elopement – there’s so much less stress! There are fewer vendors (if any) and fewer guests, which allows you to be present instead of worrying about all the little details. Elopements are generally a smaller-scale wedding celebration focused on a relationship instead of the big party afterward!

Less $$ – You Should Elope in 2025
Another huge reason couples opt for an elopement? They cost less! Generally, when planning a wedding, the three biggest costs are a venue, catering, and maybe photography. When you elope, two of those three things are gone! Costs are meager if you are considering eloping outdoors in a national park or somewhere unique in Colorado. National parks often require a permit for a wedding ceremony but they’re incredibly affordable! An elopement allows couples to plan the honeymoon of their dreams, travel somewhere they’ve always dreamt of, and make incredible memories along the way!
Unique to your Relationship + More Intimate
Just as I’ve previously mentioned, elopements are completely customizable and a beautiful celebration of your love story. While you’re planning your elopement, consider what is important to you, and how you can integrate special moments from your relationship into your big day. Maybe you met at a bar, so you celebrate post-elopement with some beers, or you both love a good charcuterie board – bring it to your elopement! Planning your wedding day whether in an elopement style, or a traditional wedding the focus is the same, your relationship and making it special to the two of you!
Another huge perk to an elopement is the level of intimacy felt during that ceremony. Oftentimes elopements have very few guests which allows you and your partner to be in the moment together. Colorado has unique wedding ceremony laws as far as witnesses and who needs to be present. If you’re considering eloping here, I would encourage you to look into those!

Explore a New Place – You Should Elope in 2025
As a lover of all things travel and exploring new places, this has to be my top reason for why elope in 2025. You get to explore a new place! When you’re considering an elopement, I want you to close your eyes and imagine your dream wedding day. Now, consider how much easier it would be to elope there if it was only you and your partner, a photographer, and the necessary persons to make it legal. SO MUCH EASIER and way more exciting! Elopements are the perfect reason to travel to somewhere on your bucketlist while also getting an epic adventure honeymoon along with it. Push the envelope and make your dreams come true for your wedding day!
Less Wedding Planning
Smaller wedding = less wedding planning. Elopements generally require a lot less moving parts allowing for less stress during the wedding planning process. Once you’ve decided to elope, consider what vendors you’ll want to be there to support you. Do you need a florist? A day of coordinator? A lot of my elopement couples opt for less vendors which also helps with less wedding planning. An elopement is such an intimate and special day that couples opt to focus more on their relationship and less on the traditional wedding day elements.

Best Elopement Pictures – You Should Elope in 2025
If you choose to elope and are traveling somewhere adventurous, your pictures are going to turn out incredible! Elopement photos are always so full of joy and adventure. From the epic views, to authentic emotions the photos are next level. I love taking my couples to some breathtaking locations during their photos that make them feel on top of the world and like they’re the only ones there. It’s truly spectacular.

More Eco-Friendly
Lastly, and most importantly, elopements are more eco-friendly. There is less travel with fewer guests, less waste, and a lot fewer one-time-use products. As a proud Denver local, I always encourage my couples to practice leave-no-trace principles to ensure our beautiful landscape stays as they found it. Colorado is home to breathtaking views, incredible nature and beautiful wildlife and it’s our responsibility to keep it that way! An elopement is a great way to keep cost low and choose an eco-friendly option.
However your wedding looks, I’m sure it will be beautiful, and you will have the happiest day. Are you looking for more elopement inspiration? Check out my Pinterest here.
