5 Reasons Why Eloping is Far From Selfish

As a Colorado elopement photographer, I’m always the most prominent advocate for an elopement. Your love story deserves to be celebrated however you feel and want to celebrate it. Being in the Boulder area, I’m blessed to meet so many people traveling here for their big day. Often, eloping can get a bad rep for being a selfish choice. Here’s a Colorado photographer’s reasons for why eloping is far from selfish!

Your Day Your Choice – Eloping is Far From Selfish

First and most importantly, this day is about you and your person. It’s not about anyone else. If you both decide that eloping is your dream, DO IT. You two are the only ones who will genuinely remember the details of that day. Not your mom, aunt, or uncle. If a destination elopement is calling you, it sounds like just the way to celebrate your day. Go for it! Eloping is far from selfish and should be celebrated!

I Call This Self Care, Not Selfish

Everyone deserves a good escape, vacation, or even a self-care day. Imagine you and your person boarding the plane to adventure in Colorado for the week, and then at the end, you’ll promise your forevers to one another. That sounds like some much-needed and memory-making self-care to me! Give yourself grace and allow your relationship the opportunity to explore and grow together. You deserve that. Eloping is far from selfish when you’re planning with your lover.

Only You Know What’s Most Important to You

Throughout the wedding planning process, you’ll quickly discover that none of it matters. All that matters is you’re with your person. When planning your elopement, isn’t that the same thing? You’ll find out what’s most important during your planning—quickly realizing that eloping is far from selfish and, honestly, one of the best things you can do for your relationship!

You Don’t Owe Anyone Anything – Eloping is Far From Selfish

While it may be hard to hear and trust me, I understand. You don’t owe anyone anything. Throughout the wedding world, there seems to be this feeling of guilt if you don’t follow the path of everyone before you. With nothing in life guaranteed, I can assure you that those people you feel you owe something to won’t remember it. They’ll move on and worry about their next big thing. Your wedding is about you, not them!

You Deserve to Live a Life with No Regrets

As previously mentioned, nothing in life is guaranteed. Wouldn’t you much rather live with no regrets and choose to elope instead of regretting it later? An elopement can be a special moment even if you decide to make it that way. Your story and love have been fought for and cherished and will last forever. It deserves to be celebrated the way you would want it to be. The most genuine and memorable way possible. Whether that’s a big wedding or a small elopement, however you plan to celebrate, eloping is far from selfish!
