As a Colorado elopement photographer, I pride myself in giving the best client experience, whether that’s a 2-legged client or 4! One of my favorite and more popular wedding trends is when couples include pets in their elopement. Pets are becoming more than pets; they are more like family. It only makes sense that they should be included in our significant life events. I have had more and more couples reach out and ask how they can include their pets on their elopement day. It’s a unique way to celebrate their family and the next chapter in their lives together. In the spirit of celebrating with our favorite four-legged friends, I’ve devised a list of ways to include pets in your Colorado elopement.

Engagement Session with Your Fur-Babies 

First on my list, bring your pets with you to your engagement session! Let me know beforehand if you’re considering getting a pet; this will help me better prepare locations and photo expectations. Couples of mine who have chosen to bring their pets in the past always have a blast! I always suggest bringing an extra person to help entertain your pet during the remainder of the pictures. Photos with pets always turn out to be some of the best, as you can be your true self and have a great time together, especially if your venue doesn’t allow animals on site! 

Get Ready with Your Pet

Next, and one of my favorites, get ready for your elopement with your pet! Often, this is one of the easier ways to include pets in your Colorado elopement. There isn’t much going on, and your pet can relax and be by your side while you’re getting ready! Your pet will be a great calming energy by your side. When you’re getting ready for your wedding,, you can feel all those pre-wedding jitters. Having your favorite fur baby by your side can ease those nerves!  

Include Pets in Your Colorado Elopement Day Ceremony or Bridal Portraits

Over the past few years, more couples have thrown tradition to the wind and changed things. This includes pets like ring-bearers, flower girls, wedding party participants, and more. I love the idea of having your pets play more of a starring role alongside you on your big day. They were there during other big moments, so why not invite them to your big day, too? Whether they’re by your side as you walk down the aisle or are bringing the rings to you – it’s all up to you!
