How to Have a Fun Senior Session

With summer quickly ending, it’s time to start thinking about the future and all the fun senior things to come! As a Colorado senior photographer, I work with incredible seniors planning their dream sessions. These sessions are all about you and celebrating the incredible accomplishment you’re about to achieve. Often, senior pictures are considered the standard cap and gown, smiling at the camera during dull sessions. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. These photos will celebrate you and your future while memorializing a chapter closing. Not spent in awkward poses and half-hearted smiles. I’ve been there! Throughout the blog, I’ll share tips to ensure you have a fun senior session; let’s do this!

Choose a Unique Location for a Fun Senior Session

One of the simplest ways to make your session a little more fun is to choose a unique location! Location is huge when it comes to senior pictures. Whether we’re on your college or high school campus or in your family’s backyard – make it meaningful and special to you. I’ve had outdoor and indoor senior sessions; we can even bring pets! Consider brainstorming location ideas together while planning your fun senior session with your Colorado senior photographer. Share a Pinterest board or even just your overall vision for the vibe of the shoot. These photos are about you and capturing this epic time in life!

Consider Bringing Props for a Personal Twist

A senior session is nothing without a few extra props! A fun senior session is made by bringing your graduation cap and gown, sparkling water or champagne (if you’re of age), or even some confetti poppers. These photos are meant to be a celebration and a fun experience. During the planning process, check with your photographer and ensure specific props are allowed in your location. It’s important to get the cute photos, but also be respectful of the location!

Have Fun With Your Outfits

While planning your senior pictures, don’t be afraid to have fun with your outfits. We’ll ensure to get the traditional graduation moments (cap and gown), but I mainly like to focus on capturing you as you are. Senior photos are a milestone photo shoot spent capturing your accomplishments and a time to capture your personality! This session is a great chance to let loose and have fun while getting new pictures for your Instagram profile too. Bring a few different outfits for your session and have fun with it!

Be Yourself

Lastly and most importantly, be yourself! There’s only one you, and the easiest way to ensure a fun senior session? Just be you. Throughout your session, we’ll explore together, talk about your future, and do whatever you want! I’ll tag along for the photos and moments, but follow your lead. I’ve had seniors bring instruments they play, their pets, and even confetti poppers! This is a time to celebrate you and your unique self!
